ScreenX extends the movie onto both side walls of the cinema, creating a 270-degree panoramic view during select scenes — action sequences, sweeping landscapes, musical numbers. The rest of the film plays on the center screen only. Built by CJ 4DPLEX (the company behind 4DX) and available exclusively at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City since November 2025.
Select scenes only. The side walls activate for action sequences, panoramic shots, and musical numbers, then go dark for dialogue-heavy scenes. The amount varies by title — some films use it for 70–80% of the runtime, others for as little as 10–20%.
What's the difference between ScreenX and IMAX?
Different goals. IMAX delivers a massive front screen with 4K laser projection and 12-channel audio — sharper, brighter, and bigger. ScreenX trades some image quality for a wraparound field of view that fills your peripheral vision. IMAX for scale, ScreenX for immersion.
Where should I sit for the best ScreenX experience?
Center seats, rows D through G. Sitting too far left or right distorts the opposite wall. The side projectors are dimmer than the main screen, so central seating gives the most balanced image.
Is there a 4DX + ScreenX combo in the Philippines?
Not yet. Some international markets have "Ultra 4DX" (motion seats + panoramic screens), but ScreenX at SM MOA is visual-only. 4DX with motion seats remains a separate format at Ayala Malls locations.
Which movies are available in ScreenX?
Select titles only, usually major Hollywood blockbusters. The slate rotates every 2–3 weeks. Look for the "ScreenX" badge on the SM Cinema booking site, or check the showtimes listed above.
